Gifting a deposit

Hi
I am in the process of gifting a deposit to a family member to buy a property.
I understand the legal declaration & that proof of funds will be needed & this can be provided
Do I need to have a solicitor to represent me for this or can it be done directly with the solicitors of the buyer?
Thanks

No need for you to have a solicitor.1

You can gift £3,000 each tax year
So £3,000 in March and another £3,000 in April
You may want to gift alot more but start off with the £3,000 this week0
