This is currently being reviewed and the government were due to publish the outcome shortly.
The Guardian* are reporting the Government are now considering scrapping plans to bring forward the increase in State Pension Age to 68, on the basis that the expected increase in life expectancy has not materialised (maybe impacted by Covid?)
* Originally reported in the Financial Times, but behind pay wall.

Hi
Yes, but don't forget how politics operate and GE coming soon
TBH, call me synical, there is nothing whatsoever that any government says and no matter how many "tripple lock guarantees" etc etc - all politicians are in it for themselves and to win votes and become MP/PM
Guarantees all persuasions can be easily overridden by "world events."

The Guardian* are reporting the Government are now considering scrapping plans to bring forward the increase in State Pension Age to 68, on the basis that the expected increase in life expectancy has not materialised (maybe impacted by Covid?)Technically, there were no plans to bring it forward.
The review is a scheduled event, and the outcome has yet to be published. The previous review stated that a further change to the state pension age (i.e. bringing 68 forward) may not be necessary as the increase in life expectancy was showing signs of slowing up. It recommended deferring any decision until the next review (the current one) to see if that trend continued.
The Government will get earlier access to the review outcome but the expectation is that they would follow the review recommendations (as they did last time).
