An ISA is a savings account where you'll not pay tax on the interest – and in the 2022/23 tax year, you can put up to £20,000 into one if you're 16 or over. With only two weeks left to use up this year's ISA allowance, we want to know whether you use an ISA to save, and if so, what kind?

I have a fixed rate ISA from Virgin Money. However, it said I could only make deposits within first few weeks. I would’ve thought only the rate is fixed (for a year) and that you can still deposit up to £20,000 per tax year at any time. Is that right?
Incidentally, VM sent virtually no paperwork. I had to Google the Key Facts doc for my specific issue and that’s where this deposit limit is stated. Oh well, deposited my money into a fixed rate Atom savings account* instead, stuff VM!
*that, too, has a deposit time limit but would’ve thought ISAs being ISAs that you could deposit whenever you like0 -
I also opened a Virgin Money ISA after seeing them listed on MSE. I have received a bit of paper to say the account was open, but have assumed that the account was always meant to be operated online. Given that it's a fixed term, fixed rate ISA, I never expected to be able to add to it over a long time period. It was somewhere to put a lump sum of money that I didn't need at the moment.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
