Lending more

Potentially splitting with my partner whereby we're both on the mortgage. Recently spoke with a mortgage advisor from the bank (mortgage) to lend more to pay my partner off (their share of equity). Although due to my partner being in debt previously, I can not get credit on my own due to the association. I was advised to contact Equifax and get them removed but they say, I'm unable to do this until the mortgage is settled...Extremely irritating as my credit rating is pretty perfect on my own.
Anyone been in this situation? I'm thinking a mortgage broker may be able to help potentially?
Advice from the bank is literally zero and I'm pretty stuck, not wanting to sell the house as this would lose a lot and put me into a bad situation overall.
Any help really would be appreciated!
Thanks

Sounds like a catch 22 with your current bank.
It should be possible to overcome. Your partners debt should not be an issue, but if your ex had bad credit and you are financially associated that could be held against you with some lenders.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
