The alternative used to be getting certified copies but who could certify a copy is always highly restrictive and some what notaries who can get expensive if its a lot of docsTadleyBaggie said:

Thankfully more places are now accepting silly videos of you holding the document up and reading something random out but still plenty of banks, regulators and others who need to do Know Your Customer type checks who want originals or certified copies.1 -
Print out the statement - Nice thick Black pen to redact what you do not want to show and post it. If it is a legal thing then take it to a solicitor and getn them to endorse it as a true copy.Once you try editing then you raise suspicion you are trying to hide something.1

I've decided to ask first before I spend too much time blanking out stuff....probably quicker in the long run.
Thanks for the advice

Which is why they want originals. It's not difficult for those who know how to tweak information on official documents, nor indeed for them to create their own.
Is it an official institution you are sending them to? Is there any reason for you to distrust them?
