Secondement pay

Options
Hi I recently started a new job and once it was advertised it was not listed as secondment.  But after accepting and receiving a contract it is a secondment until the end of the year. My pay is listed in secondment I signed. Prior to starting this job a fellow colleague was seconded to this role for 3 months in which it has come to light he was getting his shift allowance too , so avergeing around 2400 a month. I was the only one who went for this job which I thought was permanent (rather than secondement) and earn around 2k per month and have more responsibility that the previous worker. Is this correct? Should I just contine and not mention that it has come to light that the previous worker was seconded and got his shift allowance. I am now off shift during this role. Thanks in advance.

Just because somebody else was getting more doesn't, in itself, give you an automatic entitlement to the same.

Ultimately these are matters for negotiation and show the importance of having a very clear understanding of what is on offer and what has been agreed.

For all you know your colleague may have been reluctant to take the secondment, for whatever reason, and was able to negotiate a "sweetener"?
