Certainly didn't feel weird or sad when taking early retirement after 35 years, over 25 of them in my final place of work. Definitely no tears. Did meet up with ex colleagues when attending other leaving do's (until office itself closed) and funerals. Am FB friends with several ex colleagues. Coincidentally 2 live in adjoining streets to me
    Hi

Worked over 30 years with several people in differnt settings and often kept in touch because of work i the same office, build, organisation etc. Let more than 8 years ago, not met a single oe i the flesh or seen for that matter.

I kept work and private life sperate as I'd seen what some people where like once they attended another workers private party/wedding their home and or met their family

    Thnaks

I still miss the people I worked with 15 years ago. I left my current role in 2015 only to come back in (more senior) in 2019 because I missed not only the work we did but the people. A good team is priceless.

I absolutely have, yes. I was made redundant a few years ago (the company went into administration) and it took me over a year to come to terms with the fact that all the work I’d done, the professional reputation I’d built and staked, all the stress - it meant nothing and there was literally nothing to show for that work. It was my first time in the private sector.

    Sometimes.

I work in utilities so we move around a lot so sometimes you weren't there long enough to really become attached to the place.

I had a job doing Highways work that I missed when I left as that my first job from 16 until about 21, so made a lot of friends there that sadly as life goes on you fall out of touch with.

I'd be pretty upset If I had to leave my current role. It's probably the first time I've felt truly "at home" in a job.

I think in today's world its quite hard to become attached to a work place and it's become rarer and rarer to find people who have been their long term.

I miss little bits about every job I've had, but in general I looked forward to a new one more than looking back.
