An affiliate link is when a website gains money from generating hits to a site
From Wiki
Affiliate marketing is a web-based marketing practice in which a business rewards one or more affiliates for each visitor or customer brought about by the affiliate's marketing efforts.
Affiliate marketing is also the name of the industry where a number of different types of companies and individuals are performing this form of internet marketing, including affiliate networks, affiliate management companies and in-house affiliate managers, specialized 3rd party vendors, and various types of affiliates/publishers who promote the products and services of their partners.
Affiliate marketing overlaps with other internet marketing methods to some degree, because affiliates often use regular advertising methods. Those methods include organic search engine optimization, paid search engine marketing, email marketing and in some sense display advertising. On the other hand, affiliates sometimes use less orthodox techniques like publishing reviews of products or services offered by a partner.
Affiliate marketing — using one site to drive traffic to another — is a form of online marketing, which is frequently overlooked by advertisers. While search engines, e-mail and RSS capture much of the attention of online retailers, affiliate marketing carries a much lower profile. Still, affiliates continue to play a significant role in e-retailers' marketing strategies.[1]

Oic thanks. So does Loquax gain money from clicking on the link? I've never used there site before so don't know much about it, but there seems to be a thing about not being allowed to post their comps on here?0

more than likely as because as far as I know Loquax comps tend to have an aff link in them, even if its got a "normal" URL at the front ( wouldn't know for certain not a member) but when they have been posted on here, Mr Loquax comes and tells you off, think he see's it as poaching from his site too

No we don't. It's always assumed so, but sadly no - occasionally we might get one link that offers that, but nope it's all for fresh air and loveSo does Loquax gain money from clicking on the link?
We're not paid for for listing competitions either
In general the only way we earn with the links is if someone who uses our links goes on and registers or buys something, and affiliate links probably only account for <10% of all competitions listed on Loquax... and that also then assumes those people are shopping and not using cashback etc...
I've seen the links posted by Bella165 and I've not said a word about it - I think those of you who responded to her posts said enough - and thank you for doing so.
We never used to encode the links (as the ones Bella posted), unfortunately a "pay to enter comps for you site" were a little bit too appreciative of this and used to scrape the site's content every week.
Anyway hope that helps.
