Loan insurance

I have taken a loan with HSBC. I want to take out insurance on the loan in case I get critically ill or I am made redundant. So far I have been dealing with the call center. They don't seem to understand what I am asking when I say I want insurance on the loan. Am I better to go into a HSBC branch or look online for insurance?

TBH. Given the whole PPI situation. Not sure banks will do it.

You can buy stand alone Critical Illness cover, Permanent Health Insurance or ASU. I don't think any lender sells cover specifically linked to a their particularl loan nowadays. ( Following the PPI "scandal")
