Hi, I just wondered if anyone can help please.
Can you transfer NIC credits on your state pension forecast after they’ve been applied to your account and if so is it the future pension centre you call or somewhere else?

When we had our daughter I (the mum) didn’t have anytime off work and my husband finished work to stay at home to look after her. I didn’t know about the NIC credits until I watched Martin Lewis this week, so I logged into my state pension forecast and could see from 2011 I have credits applied together with a large NIC contribution for several years - I don’t need the credits and will be due a full state pension without them. However, my husband is short a full state pension by several years because he didn’t work while she was at school and he hasn’t got enough working years left to make them up.

Yes you can transfer the creditsThere may be some limits mentioned but those are usually flexible.

And going forward, make sure the Child Benefit is in his name to get him future credits automatically (until your youngest child turns 12). Even if you are earning over the £60,000 that would mean you would pay all the money back, there is an option to just get the credits and not the money.1
