I'm in the same situation as Spivved
The whole system is a complete mess and fairly undecipherable0 -
It is only undecipherable if you don't understand the fairly simple logic behind it, it ain't rocket science as they say. Many of us here understand precisely how it works and can offer pointers of what, if anything, you need to do.

You have obtained a state pension forecast?
For some guidance, could you supply the information requested here

I do hope this won't turn into a conversation about 'gold-plated' public sector pensions.

All we are asking is that if people want to post up the details from their State Pension forecast we can help with what years it is to their advantage to try to fill and, if necessary, explain why they may need more than 35 years to reach the maximum possible.
We're now three pages into this thread and as far as I can see, despite being asked several times, you've still not provided us with all the information from your state pension forecast that would enable people here to actually answer your opening question as to which years you should be looking to buy,0 -

I thought Xylophone brought up the subject:
But not to bring up the gold plated pension.
You had said
am in receipt of an occupational DB pension, but I can't see any mention of this amount in anything I have routinely received from my pension provider.I was wondering whether or not you knew anything of the GMP increase provision!

Could you give the information requested
- Maximum amount of forecast
- Current amount up to April 2022
- Years you have available going forward until you reach State Pension Age
- Number of full years prior to April 2016
- Number of full years after April 2016
- Years which are not filled and the cost of filling them
- Whether there is a COPE mentioned and if so what the amount is (this will show by clicking a link there is a statement along the lines of ' like many, you have been contracted out.....'.)
Maximum amount of forecast £185.15Current amount £177.41Years available to SP 2 yearsFull years prior to April 2016 34Full years after April 2016 to 5 April 2022 5Years not filled and cost2010-11 £523.052011-12 £126.802016-17 523.05COPE Estimate £85.06 per weekFor 2022-23 I will not have a full year, and would imagine it will cost whatever a full year costs0 -
