Getting an idea of lenders eligible for

Is an eligibility checker for a credit card something that can give you a bit of assurance that the AIP may be more likely with a certain lender?
for example, on the MSE site it says I’m pre approved for a credit card with virgin but not for NatWest for some reason I have 0% chance with a credit card, likewise for Halifax.

I have no adverse markers of any kind on any of the CRA’s. I did have a default with barclaycard which dropped off my credit report at the beginning of February…
could this be a reason why some lenders still show less than likely to get one?

I know this isn’t exact and AIP is entirely different I just wanted to know if the eligibility for say virgin. Means that with no adverse and the fact I can get a credit card (in theory) means that I have a good chance with that particular lender for an AIP.
I have no debts and affordability will be fine, will be asking for 2.5 x joint income for property. Just worried that some lenders may not be searching an up to date version of my credit report on the eligibility checker things.

As above.
The are in essence 2 separate businesses within the same company.
The way they are run is different, their risk appetites will be different and even those could well change over time due to the way they are funded and profit etc. I dont even think you can use it as an indication in all honesty.
I used to work for RBS in their credit card department, we would decline people who banked and had their mortgage/other loans with us - I know this because they used to get the hump and tell us they would take all of their finances elsewhere.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
