No big surprise that the FB buyer didn’t turn up and has ignored my message asking if she’s still collecting the item today. I don’t understand some people. Another long listed item has now had some interest and someone is supposed to be collecting that tomorrow - we’ll see if that happens. That will be £15 and a decent sized space in a cupboard cleared if so. I’ve also listed a few other items that I found under my bed which should make £30 if sold. One lady has enquired about those so far.
I’ve thrown out an empty laptop box also from under the bed and felt ashamed at the amount of dust under there. I really need to move the bed and hoover underneath but my bed is such a heavy frame and mattress that I can’t shift it alone.

I’ve photographed all of the antiques for the ‘expert’ to assess, we’ll see what comes of that.

I found an unidentified and unlabelled portion of a previous batch cooked meal in the freezer that I’ve taken out for myself tonight. Still no idea what it is now it’s defrosted, perhaps some sort of sweet potato chilli, will try and guess when I warm it up later!

I'm feeling somewhat down in the dumps today, a feeling I've had since I woke up on Monday and just can't shake. Everything seems like hard work and I've no motivation for anything. I think it may be a bit of a response to the massive spike in anxiety lately. I'm trying to work on it though by making the most of the little things - little walks around the garden during the day, watering the plants, having a nice coffee, a hug from DS when his teenage self allows(!) and trying to tell myself 'this too shall pass.'

I've just had a lovely chat with a gentleman who came to collect the FB sale which cheered me up. He was originally from my part of the world and it was so lovely to hear the accent and to chat about all things local to home. I was also able to tell him a little bit of history about the items he bought as they were originally from my home village. Also, £15 made and a good bit of cupboard space freed up. I've sent the £15 to the 'money made' pot, there's currently £31 in there, soon to be £41 as an item sold for £10 overnight on ebay which I need to package and send later today.

I need to bake a cake later today to give to a work colleague who has done something for free for me and saved me some money. It's actually something for my parents and I'm grateful it hasn't cost anything. I bought butter yesterday so have everything in, I just need to bake it later as will have to give it to him before a meeting tomorrow otherwise I won't see him.

£55.75 spent on filling the car up with petrol this morning. £31.50 spent on some clothes for DS last night as he is growing out of things at such a rate and is already 6ft tall! He offered to pay for them out of his allowance but as it was a need (no joggers left that fit him!) I said I would go halves on these items. He rarely spends money and saves most of his allowance, but he had a mini shopping spree last night and bought and paid for a few other items himself - Some cheap sunglasses, a polo shirt he has had his eye on for a while and some 'branded' boxers (I said I would pay for plain non-branded ones but if he wanted 'fancy pants'  :D he had to pay for them himself, which he was happy to do to be fair.) I'm proud of him as he found voucher codes for 10% off one site, went for a non-branded pair of sunglasses for £7 instead of the designer £30 ones and shopped around for the best deal on other items. It meant he has to wait longer for them to be delivered, but has saved him a lot of money. I hope he carries these good habits forward with him. I paid for my share of his joggers out of the clothes/school pot, but it's about to take another hammering as his sports boots now no longer fit and are rubbing him. They are usually around £100, but the ex has gone halves in the past so I'm hoping he will this time. It will more or less drain that pot though and DS's school trainers are looking ropey now too...

Mini Fox is also having a growth spurt - it's exhausting! However, on the plus side, it sounds as though your DS has picked up lots of good habits from you. You must be very proud x

It is exhausting, Fox! I just bought him loads of new clothes for Christmas & his birthday and already many of them are too short.
He did look on vinted yesterday and said he doesn't mind 2nd hand which I was quite surprised about. He has always had hand me downs etc as he was growing up but I didn't think his teenage self would be open to 2nd hand items even though he knows I regularly shop at charity shops for myself.
Unfortunately we couldn't find anything that was reasonably priced on vinted either but nice to know he's open to the idea for the future.

Another £15 FB sale has just been collected so the 'money made' pot will be up to £56 once the ebay & last vinted sale clears. Not bad for extra bits sold in just over a week and a few more things out of the house and re-used by someone else. If only I could make that every week! I have a feeling I'll have to use this money towards DS's new boots & shoes though rather than pay it off the mortgage which I was hoping to do.

Well done on the FB and eBay sales. I’ve finally got round to listing a few items on eBay. I need to have a good sort through our things. So much I don’t use or wouldn’t miss it needs to go. xx

Thank you Mrs_Money_Penny, good luck on the ebay sales!

Another item sold on vinted last night for £7 so that's been packaged up and is ready to post today.

I decided to bite the bullet and send £32.67 from the money made this month to the mortgage as an OP as it's rounded it down to exactly £57,000. The remainder in the pot has been rounded up and sent to the CC as I used it yesterday to make a purchase for something health & fitness related. There was just under £135 on the card, now paid down to £100 and will be £83 once the ebay and vinted sales are cleared and the money is sent to it. I've also dug out some trainers to sell on vinted which should hopefully make around £20 so they will go towards it too. I'm determined to pay the balance off this month by making extra £'s so not using any money from the budget.

The ham joint I bought after Christmas has been defrosted and is now in the slow cooker for most of the day. I've soaked it first so hopefully it will remove some of the salt as I find hams can be quite salty. This one is unsmoked though so may be a little less salty. It should last us for a few days of meals & salads/sandwiches.

The WM has just finished spinning so off to hang the laundry on the line and make the most of the weather. Today I'm also going to wash a big blanket that was on DS's bed during the colder months and freshen that up to put away for the summer. I also need to read that (not very smart) gas meter which doesn't work properly so I have to send manual readings then perhaps look for some more items to list. :)

Have a good day all x

Sorry to hear your mum not too well . Totally with you on the not being able to shake the can't be bothered feeling,  it's really not nice , you're doing well with paying things down , it's a great feeling seeing totals go down
  • I love a ham joint!

Bit of a weird first post, but here we are. I'm just following along for the ride, good luck!

Thanks both. The ham joint worked really well in the slow cooker, it more or less fell apart after 8 hours on low. OH and I had some for tea last night, DS has had some for lunch today, there’s a big lump left in the fridge and OH has taken a big chunk home for sandwiches this week.

I’ve had two more vinted sales making £19 in total, both are wrapped and ready to go. That’ll be another £19 off the CC once cleared. That also makes £82 in FB & vinted sales made in the last week or so. :)
