charge against property

When doing equity release the solicitor found a charge put on from a firm that has since been kicked out from the FCA as is the solicitor who acted for them.I have been trying for the last 3 months to find out what it is for and how much. When the firm ceased trading the debts were either sold off or written off.I have been phoning from the Cayman Islands to India and can not find anyone who has an interest in the debt or me.The land registry have told my solicitor the debt has to been proved to have been payed, and the court where it was issued have told me to get in touch with the land registry or prove I have payed it.Is there anybody out there that can give me some information that can help mego forward.

    |You need to find out who the debts were sold to. I doubt a charge on a property would be written off as it has a value.

You should be able to see when the charge was put on the registry and that may give a clue as to what it was for. It is unusual to have a charge on your property and not know anything about it.

the company HFO went out of business in 2014 and either sold all the debts on or scrapped them.I have been trying for 3 months to find out which one is the case.As i said nobody will do anything until I can prove I have paid the debt off.

I’m assuming as a court is mentioned we are referring to an equitable charge noted on the title.
If so then you may need to go back to the court and ask them to dismiss the order based on evidence you can supply. What evidence you need will depend on specifics as I’m assuming the debt existed but you are hoping it’s been written off. You really need legal advice here how to prove to the court that has happened and to get it dismissed.
We deal with the outcome of such efforts and not how you got there re creditor or court
