Help with figuring out potential salary

I have this job offer and it is full time £9.50 per hour. I have been on Universal credit for a while but I have been taking casual jobs (2-3 days per month) every once in a whie. I don't know my tax code and all that stuff. I used this, our own moneysaving calculator (cannot post the link yet) and it told me my take home would be £1379. So is that correct estimate?? Also who can tell my monthly rate if a job advertises £21,700 per year on indeed? How much take home would be? Sorry for  the lame  questions I will try not to ask that a lot.

The reason jobs post 'gross' salaries and not 'take home' is because it differs for every person depending on circumstances (e.g. if they pay more tax due to other income, what pension contributions are made, etc).

A job with an annual gross salary of £21,700 will pay £1,808.33 gross per month.

Assuming you have no other income or shenanigans with tax, you can use an online take home calculator to estimate what your take home might be.

Googling "21700 take home" and going to the first result suggests that your net pay (take home) would be around £1555 after tax and NI.

I note this doesn't include any employee pension contribution, so potentially this could be a bit less.

For reference, you can find out your tax code by logging into your 'personal tax account' - a free service provided by the government.

How old are you? £9.50 in the National Living Wage for 23+, it will rise to £10.42 in April.

That is based on ongoing employment, if you started now you would be under the tax threshold for FY 22-23 and so would only pay National Insurance and so would take home more between now and then end of March, then, provided your other calculations (hours per week/month) are correct that would be your ongoing income

You can use that to calculate the take home on any salary, though they will only account for ongoing employment, not sporadic, which is more complicated.

Thanks I'm older than 23 so yea. Seems like 9.50 adds up to £1379 at least until April. Honestly that's not a lot at all especially if you have a family to feed.

That would firstly indicate that you are only working 33.5 hours per week rather than a standard 38-40.

On an income that low you would continue to receive an element of Universal Credit, though not as much as you would currently be receiving, you would be better off net.
