Care savings checks by local authority

I have a tracker mortgage and a substantial balance in the savings side to this account. This is to repay the interest only mortgage in 2028.
Firstly can the local authority see this amount and secondly if they can can they class this as our savings and rule need to pay for own care(….hopefully never happens
