bailiffs knocking on a friends door looking for her ex hubby who used her address as a forwarding address when renting a flat which he never paid a penny to and has now left the country.  what does she have to do to stop bailiffs?  they told her to see a solicitor.

thanks 😊

I'll ask that this is moved to the main DFW board rather than the sub forum - you'll get better responses there!

Ultimately though - if the ex husband has never lived at that address, she can simply tell the bailiffs that the person they are looking for isn't there, and has never lived there, they've got the wrong address. She can then demand that they leave her property. She should categorically NOT let them in (regardless of what they tell her) and ideally if she can talk to them through an open window rather than the front door, so much the better!

Bailiffs will attend whatever address is on there warrant given by the court.

All you can do is not allow them access, and inform them in writing (to their head office) said chap does not reside there, and to refer back to their client.
