Best way to combine work pensions

Hi

I have a pension with my current employer (Scottish Equitable) and also have 3 pensions from other employers. Can anyone please advise what is the best way to combine these into one pot so really I can keep track of them easier and try and get a better deal if possible. Also is there a way to check how many pensions i actually have in case I have missed any. My wife is in exactly the same position.

Thank you in advance

The easiest way to combine the pensions is probably to ask your current employer to transfer in the old pensions.  Whether it is in your interest to do so will be dependent on the details of the various pensions.  For example it is possible that if you have a pension from 30 years ago that there are valuable guarantees that would be lost if the pension was transferred.  Other factors could include the range and quality of funds available.

Hi. You asked if you could check how many pensions you might have... I can't post links (I'm too new to the Forum and not allowed yet) but you can Google something like 'pension tracing service gov uk'. That may help you.
