Tesco shopper? The Pay+ and Clubcard apps are closing – don't get caught out at the checkout

    Still no update for me to be able to pay using the grocery app, how stupid are they to close a service without fully embedding the replacement? 
    I'm on android and checked manually for updates, but nothing! 
    Bad move Tesco!

    @BillDoor from the HOME page you may need to add a payment card to your PAYMENT WALLET.

    The PAY IN STORE button will then appear at the bottom of the SHOP IN STORE tab.

    If you are asked to verify your card it may take you to your banking app.

    I had issues getting it to pass the final stage which was solved by turning on LOCATION in my phone settings.

    Others have also reported the need for LOCATION to be on in the Goggle Play Store reviews.

    I’m unable to verify my credit card on the new Clubcard and Grocery app, purely because I have a Santander credit card. During the verification process Tesco do a zero amount transfer request on the card. This is the problem, Santander don’t allow verification using zero amount transfers and will reject the card.
    The card still works using the machine at the till, and scanning my Clubcard separately, but not being able to use my iPhone is a real pain.
    I’ve contacted Tesco who say it’s a Santander problem, and yes, Santander say it’s a Tesco problem……so complete stalemate!!

    I stopped using Pay+ when they locked all the offers to Clubcard members. I want to scan the Clubcard first and see the prices go down before I pay. With Pay+ I had it once where it just took payment without applying the Clubcard. 
  • I tried using the Tesco Clubcard and Pay + app after waiting several weeks for them to allow me to switch from the Pay + method of payment.
    Yesterday I tried the new App in store but it showed Network Error when I tried to pay.
    From what I can find out you need to be connected to the internet to be able to pay using the new App. I do not recall this being made clear anywhere.
    I do not have my limited Data switched on all the time so another backward step as far as I am concerned. I will pay with my Credit card and forget the new App. The larger stores do have free wifi but I will not bother even trying as previously with the old Pay+ App it was one step to Boot up the App and then scan my fingerprint then scan the display and finished.

    I’ve decided not to bother with the new system. If Tesco can’t be bothered to get it working properly then I can’t be bothered to use it. I’ll just use my credit card and Clubcard at the till as I used to do before Pay+.
