New job nerves?

So I start my new job in a few weeks after being made redundant but I find myself feeling nervous as hell about it for some reason, is this a thing? I’ll be in my current job 9 years by the time I finish my notice period, I can’t remember feeling as nervous or anxious when I started this job. Some nights in the middle of the night you wake up and think “fcuk” and a feeling of dread. I don’t know, I’ve no call to be nervous, interview went well, they seemed really nice. Maybe it’s just the lingering stress of whatever from redundancy.
Anyone else have this before?

It's a big change and because of the redundancy, plus the decision/need to switch employers, and the timing was not of your own free will, so your nervousness, and uncertainty may stem from that. I think it's really understandable.
Not much you can do though really, as your old/current job doesn't exist... Go into the new one with an open mind and don't be surprised if it takes a few months to settle in.

I'd echo the above, it's a big change, it's something you're effectively being forced through so your control hasn't been the greatest.
Even if the circumstances had been better, there is likely grounds to have some nerves - is a new job after all and even if you're totally confident in the job you don't know what environmnent will be like, so I'd say there's part natural caution at the unknown at play here. It shouldn't be overwhelming you though.
Reach out to people (and here), try and stay positive, it does sound like you've made the best of things tbh and you may one day think this was ultimately for the best

I would say what you are feeling is completely normal. It is anxiety of the unknown, stage fright.
Once you arrive for your first day at the job, your mind will be occupied with learning and the anxiety will fade quickly.
You will be fine and I wish you the best of luck3 -
Very normal feeling mate.
I think I've had this at every job I've been in. I've been at my current job long term as a supervisor and still had the same feelings before starting here.
I think when you've been at a job for a while you obviously get settled, it's just the old first day at school feeling's again lol.
All will be fine. Good luck.1 -
Hi OP
I've yet to meet anyone who is not nervous but a lot of younger people these days ic our kids that don't stay long in one place are often not worried.
In your case, I'd be a bit worried if you was not as its natural, lol
Good luck and I'm sure the first day will fly, then the week and years

Thanks for the advice guys. This is the big week. I'm not sure what I am more worried about, the farewells to my workmates because we've all become like a family and there's a bond there between us all or the starting this new job. The anxiety is definitely getting worse the closer it gets. I worry I'll be a nervous wreck and make a complete mess of my first day, I know when the day comes I will probably be fine and it'll be the end of all the anxiety and worry over the past few months at least.0
