Pension & contracted-out deductions

Hello.  Are contracted-out deductions made throughout the "life" of the pension regardless of how long I was in a company pension scheme?

At some point between 1978 and 2016 you were a member of a pension scheme that was "contracted out" of SERPS/S2P?

Are you in receipt of old state pension?  Your annual statement of increase in benefits shows a COD?

If so, that remains year after year and if you have a widow who inherits some part of the occupational pension to which it relates, it will also have an effect on her state pension.

Or are you indicating that a COPE is/was shown on your new state pension forecast?

If so, this was used once only to establish your "starting amount" for NSP.

It depends on the type of company pension you are referring to.  Contracted out with the DB pension is different to contracting out with a DC pension and a variation contracting out with a group PPP/SHP.

In the cases of COMPs and DB schemes you would only be contracted out whilst working for that employer.  With GPPP and GSHP schemes you could be contracted out with those beyond the employment.
