The Solax batteries "work with Octopus" but so does their inverter
Surely if you have their inverter, it doesn't matter so much that their batteries work with Octopus?
Libbi afaik doesn't. Am I correct in thinking that it doesn't matter as long as you've got an inverter that "works with Octopus"?

I've been looking here
https://octopus.energy/works-with-octopus/
And I really can't see why it would matter if I did get a Libbi battery vs a Solax one for instance. Unless the idea is that it automatically exports at the best rate and imports via the inverter, at the best rate too?0 -
As far as i can tell, my solax has no intelligence to talk to octopus, i dont know what the works with octopus thing means, perhaps that you can set it to charge at specific times1

I guess your inverter does have some intelligence?0 -
Not that i am aware of
It just does as it is told i believe, have not seen any setting to make it work with octopus. Might need to speak to them to clarify what qualifies something to "work with octopus"1 -

I have just looked in my solax web interface thing and they seem to have updated it - perhaps it can now talk to Octopus? not that i know what to do with this...

(from the above screenshot) ..... is it not the case that you can configure it with your "Octopus account" API to gain personalised configuration options i.e the API used / supplied by Octopus is 'compatible'(?) with what Solax can work with.
But, I would have thought that functionality was more relevant to the inverter.1 -
I will have to email them, its strange when i click the API acquisition bit it doesnt give me any other choice to do anything...1

I say that as currently Octopus allow you to import at 20p/kWh between 2am and 5am, and then export for 33p/kWh between 4pm and 7pm
Which is kinda cool. I guess it's mostly for "" grid stabilisation "
I wouldn't however use that tariff for an EV unless perhaps you have a zappi and exclusively charge it on eco++0 -
I'm not sure about automatically but you can definitely force it to drain the battery, manually...0
