SSE G98 Timescales

Our installer says they have submitted it and we should get an export MPAN in a couple of months. However I've looked at the SSE website and it says differently. They just issue a confirmation when they have put it on their system. I then give that confirmation and the MCS certificate to my chosen supplier, who will apply for the export MPAN. For this, and a number of other reasons, I don't trust what my installer tells me.

The turnaround time for a G98 application can vary depending on a number of factors, including the volume of applications received by the distribution network operator (in this case, SSE), the completeness and accuracy of the application, and the complexity of the project.
According to the SSE website, they aim to process G98 applications within 15 working days of receiving a complete and accurate application. However, they note that some applications may take longer if additional information or clarification is needed.
It's possible that your installer has submitted the application and is waiting for confirmation from SSE, which may take some time. However, if you have concerns about the status of your application, it's best to contact SSE directly to inquire about the expected timeline for processing and any issues that may have arisen with your application. They should be able to provide you with a more specific estimate for when you can expect to receive confirmation and an export MPAN.

Thank you, I couldn't find the turnaround time. I'll leave it for three weeks before chasing for an update, which is a bit shorter than the couple of months my installer quoted!0

For anyone who may stumble across this wondering the same thing, I spoke to SSEN and they advised their current timescales for G98 are up to 65 working days - roughly three months - from receiving a compete application (if they have to request more information, the clock doesn't start until they have it all).0

Did you get an export MPAN or was it just a comfirmation?0 -
To be fair, I was expecting 4 weeks. My installer said it had recently been taking 4 weeks so perhaps I was lucky?!
I was just forwarded an email from ssen which didn't say a lot really. Just said thank you for the notification and that the documents met the G98 criteria. The only mpan that was mentioned was my existing import one. I saved this as a pdf and then uploaded it when I applied to Octopus for export. Did not need to upload the MCS certificate, just supply the certificate number.
Octopus have just set up my export account which has only taken 9 days. They request an export mpan to be generated and this now appears in my octopus account. Just waiting for them to confirm the smart meter is sending export readings then the setup is complete.
Is a bit of a convoluted process but seemed to work ok for me. Only issue now is the abysmal weather means I don't have anything to export 😂

Brilliant thanks, that's roughly the process I was expecting, although I'll be going it with BG for a better SEG rate (I'm on Octopus Go so not eligible for the 15p rate). Vernal equinox next week, fingers crossed for some sunny weather with the longer days!0

Although I got a copy of the G98 from the installer, when I chased it with SSEN last week, they didn't have a record of having received it.
I sent my copy of the G98 to them by email and I got a DNO response from them 48 hours later.
