Surf washing powder

I accept that this is possibly the most inane question I've ever asked in my life,  I recently bought some Surf Washing Powder, the Lavender one, on the premise that it would give my washing a divine fragrance, how disappointed was I, I just did a whole load of washing and nothing, I took it out to put it on my heated airer and it doesn't smell of anything :(, has anybody else had this with this particular brand, am I doing something wrong, perhaps using a too bigger load, are liquids more fragrant, any tips would be gratefully received?

When my neighbour washes her stuff I can smell it from across her large garden (I don't feel like I can ask her without looking like an idiot).  As I said I dry my clothes on a heated airer, I'd just like to find something that has a nice/ lasting smell even after air drying.

Thanks in advance.

Samantha

I used to use surf lavender and you are right, there is no definite fragrance.  I suspect your neighbour is using a fabric softner to get the strong fragrance that you can smell.

Oh you too, I'm glad it’s not just me, I have heard that it might be due to loading the machine to much 😐  but surely washing a half load is just a waste of electric, which in this current climate is best avoided.  Getting back to Surf, how disappointing, I should of ignored all the hype now I'm stuck with a big box of unscented powder 😡, anyway my neighbour probably does use fabric conditioner, you are right, I don't like using that though as it seems to make my towels hard.

Pmd the team to move to an actual board tomorrow as it’s not been posted on one x

Probably overloading the machine, I would say if you are getting no fragrance although I only ever use pods.
Something definitely wrong if your towels are hard after using conditioner though? as it’s supposed to soften and eliminate that, although I find most towels are ‘harder’ if dried anyway other than a tumble drier. Personally I line dry them and then give them a 2 minute tumble to soften. X

I will try it with say around half load next time Sarah and see if it makes any difference,  I cut out fabric conditioner as I read somewhere, where it coats the fibres it builds up, think I’m just doomed to have hard towels as I haven’t got a tumble dryer so air drying is my only option. x

I've got Surf concentrated liquid detergent  with '5 herbal extracts' and it is very strongly scented- and it lingers on the washing too. I bought it because it was on offer/ reduced somewhere!  generally I avoid the strongly scented stuff because I don't like the scent (think Lenor!) but this is rather pleasant.

Incidentally I always buy liquid because I got fed up with white powder on clothes now and again- no chance with a liquid. I usually buy shop's own brand.

Just a thought- could you add a few drips of lavender essential oil to the wash- or even to the washing powder? (or lavender cologne- Boots have Lavender water @ £4+)

My brain is now in gear!

Unilever want to keep you as a valued customer So I suggest you give them a call on 0800 444 200 or contact them via the website: www.surf.co.uk.

You want to provide customer feedback (not a complaint!!) because, as a long time customer you are so disappointed........blah di blah! If you are calling I would have a list of points you want to make in front of you. This is worth a try.
