Finding a good pension administrator

I researched different platforms for a SIPP and in the end decided to go with interactive Brokers as they had by far the lowest fees. The only problem is I need to have a SIPP administrator. They remain competitive even if I factor in this cost but I cannot seem to find any SIPP administrators with decent reviews. I am considering training up in this area as all the ones I found  have 80-100% negative reviews with people complaining that they waited for 8 months or a year for transfers. Has anyone on this site experienced had any experience with a SIPP administrator that they could actually recommend?

I am not sure what you mean - so far as I can tell on their website, Interactive Brokers is a share dealing site and not a SIPP provider.

What requirements do you have that wont be satisfied by the standard platforms - HL, AJBell, Vanguard etal?

IBKR provide a platform for SIPP accounts but not administration. The three mentioned on their website as possibilities have terrible reviews on Trustpilot with some people saying they have to wait for 8 months to a year for transfers. IBKR has by far the cheapest exchange commission so is much cheaper for buying US stock- and I mean seriously cheaper!

Where you are looking for reviews as most modern SIPP providers do the job well.

If the people doing the review were doing DB transfers or in-specie transfers then that timescale is the ballpark expectation.      Auto-enrolment transfers can be sluggish as well.      However, cash transfers are usually very quick.

The problem with looking at reviews made by people that don't know what they are doing, is that you end up with, what is likely to be, an unfair review.

Also, by splitting the administration, you will, by its very nature, add in extended delays in doing things as there are more hoops to jump through.

The less functionality you offer, the cheaper it can be.    You are looking at a highly niche way of doing things that is not geared for the normal consumer.     You will not get any FSCS protection on the assets either.   So, make sure you know what you are doing as you into the reams of the less than 1% doing it your way.
