Nationwide BS

Friend of mine phoned Nwide today to ask about Equity Release and was told that Nwide have stopped offering ER deals.  Any idea why ??

  • I recall going to borrow back an overpayment and being told that they had to run an affordability check. I was quite taken aback because I’d understood it was entirely up to me whether I wanted to borrow it back - in fact I’d just used overpayment to save for house improvements on the basis that I would draw it down eventually. However they explained it in the context of being a responsible lender and making sure that I wasn’t borrowing money that I couldn’t afford to pay back. I wonder is that the case here?
