we are buying a new mattress for the mil.
budget about £2k
important things:
small double
for someone about 25 stone (so firm)
need good edge support as she needs to be able to get in and out without it collapsing and needs to sit on the edge of the bed to put her shoes on and get dressed
side sleeper
we've been in a few show rooms and have been recomended the following
tempura sensation elite
https://www.landofbeds.co.uk/tempur/mattresses/sensation-elite (price quoted in bensons for beds show room was £1899 but online for cheaprer)
clima control latex backcare
https://www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/products/slumberland-clima-control-latex-backcare-mattress/ (£899.99
restore ortho 2000
https://www.bensonsforbeds.co.uk/products/staples-restore-eco-latex-ortho-2000-mattress/ (£999.99)
and
therapur actigel 2600
https://www.dreams.co.uk/therapur-actigel---arctic-2600-mattress/p/131-00958-configurable (£1399)
was hoping someone on here might have any advice or warnings or recomendations for others that might fit the bill?

Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you. Anne Lamott
It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?
Please consider buying some pet food and giving it to your local food bank collection or animal charity. Animals aren't to blame for the cost of living crisis.

vispring diamond jubilee limited edition is the one we gifted to an old friend it’s a little above your budget but worth every penny.

its the mil rather than a friend and being over budget isnt a problem (well not £20k but the budget is more based on what the mil is comfortable accepting as a gift rather than anything else)
we did actually look at a visprung in john lewis. i can't remember which one but it looked like it ticked a lot of boxes and wasnt obscenely over budget
i emailed them to see if there was a specific one they would recomend and they responded with a very nice email saying that they didn't have a suitable model for someone of the mil's weight and mobility problems.
they actually suggested we contact reinforced beds (as they also do mattresses) and i'm speaking to someone there about some of the mattresses they provide to the nhs and if they would be suitable. maybe with a mattress toper (maybe visprung!) if its to firm?Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.
