To which it's worth adding that Press reports at the time also suggested that efforts to force manufacturers to show insect ingredients on food intended for human consumption had been defeated in the EU Parliament. Italy, however, has had the good sense to outlaw such ingredients in pasta and pizza flour and Hungary has also banned insect ingredients. As for Lidl, whatever it does in Germany, food it sells in the UK must confirm to British standards so, thus far, its bread flour should be insect free.
