    Hi, I have a query about paying class 1 NICs after my 66th birthday.   I’m employed and my employer runs a monthly payroll, but my 66th birthday fell mid way in the month.  They have deducted NICs for the whole month and say they cannot amend but will change my status for next month’s payroll run.  My calculation is that I’ve overpaid £150 between my birthday and end of the month.   Any ideas anyone?   Many thanks
    There is a way of claiming NI refunds here;
    Claim a National Insurance refund - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
    I'm not sure if it's applicable in your case, but worth a try.

    Does he have any incomplete years. Topping up years which are incomplete can be a very cost effective way of increasing years without having to make a full years payment. But you need get a move on as the process is not quick and the window for anything but the last 3 years has been extended but closes in July
    I think you need to clarify exactly which poster you are asking / responding to here - there are several different sets of queries from different people on this single thread, and none of the posts from the last month seem related to your reply.

    I was responding to Well-being’s post which was the original post. If other contributors submit unrelated NI queries in between it confuses things. When I wrote my response there was only one question being asked. If you hijack someone else’s post it causes confusion.

    Yes, I agree that it confuses things, but we're seeing so many new posters on these boards at the moment with so many similar queries, that it's bound to happen.

    Wellbeing posted up their original query a couple of months ago, and it was pretty much dealt with at the time in the first page of this thread, but there have been several additional queries by different posters since then, which is why the thread has resurfaced.
  • Hi there
    It's good to read on this website that the deadline for retrospective NI contributions has been extended to 2025. However, this information isn't visible on the Gov.uk pages. Can anyone verify this information? Thank you!
