Is your first name hyphenated?
I sometimes get this being Anne-Marie. So I remove the hyphen.

I think you're right.  I got the "already entered" message but then entered with a different email and got "thank you"

OK, I've gone through the virtual assistant and the guy has entered my details into this competition, so suggest going for it that way.....
