Do you give out your address?

We are selling a few bits and pieces on Marketplace and the question has come up on collection.

I'm not keen on giving our address out, we live local to a huge shopping area etc so it seems far more safe to swap the item for money there.

My husband thinks I'm bonkers. Actually his words were daft and over the top... 

Have I been watching too much Happy Valley to think everyone has ulterior motives.....

All Marketplace sales from now on will go under his account, he can give it out then if he wants, just wondered what people actually do as now I think of it, do people really swap items for money in car parks..... .

I do give my address out, I don’t have all day to stand in a draughty shopping centre hoping someone has bothered to come , and believe me many sales never get collected , either they have issues with their car or their child is sick- and that’s assuming they bother contacting you again at any point.

If I have a definitely interested person looking to come I give them my post code and tell them I’ll send the door number once they confirm they are actually on their way, I don’t give it out in advance to messed around.

This is actually really good advice, I'd never thought of it until now.
