What counts as a financial dependant

Hi,
Can anyone enlighten me as to what counts as a "financial dependent" for mortgage purposes? I am divorced with 2 kids who I have 50/50 care over. My ex receives all the financial benefits that go with that and I don't pay her any child support, due to the equal care split.
However, for a mortgage application, what would I put for a financial dependent? Would it be 2 as I have 2 kids? Would it be 0 as my ex gets all the financial benefits? Would it be 1 as I have them 50% of the time?
Does anyone know for sure what I should be putting?
