Thanks, it says it has been accepted. Does this mean the consultant has viewed the x-ray. I know they said they had sent one. Thanks

Again, this can vary according to region, but in most places all it means is that a non-clinical office person has looked through the referral form and ticked boxes to make sure all the things on the form have been ticked, and x-rays have been sent etc.

In the whole process right up to taking it out and being discharged, unless there are any specific difficulties anticipated, it is highly unlikely an actual 'consultant' will have anything to do with it.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

Does a dentist/ oral surgeon look at it next to see if secondary care can do. Or if it needs hospital treatment. Thanks

That would be decided on your initial visit, and after talking to you

Ah so there will be a appointment before the extraction? I thought they would just offer an appointment for extraction. Thanks

There usually is a consultation first.

If the referral was at the end of Jan, when you first posted - then I doubt even in the best areas you'd be in even for initial consultation before/around then.

If they are that efficient though, there is no harm in moving the appt until after your holiday.

Just make sure you check your mail as a priority when you get back in case an appt is waiting for you, or if, like some regions, you get a txt or email about an appointment, and it falls whilst your away, you get on to them and rearrange it.

I had to wait nearly a year the dentist tried three times to extract before I got refereed to Hospital.   During that time it was very painful and kept getting infected.  Within 5 mins of hospital appointment they had removed tooth and I drove home.
