Work about to enter consultation for restructure looking at buying house and applying for mortgage

My work have said we are about to go into consultation for restructure, with some potential redundancies. I have been told off the record that its v likely my role will be safe but obviously its not confirmed. However, my partner and I are currently looking to buy our first house with a mortgage.
Will being in an official consultation period need to be declared to the broker if we find a property soon? The consultation period will be 45 days and is due to start late feb. Any advice v much appreciated!

  • I think it will depend how soon you can get the mortgage in principle? They look at your last 3/6 months pay slips so as long as you are currently employed it shouldn't matter. Its then up to you if you think you can afford the repayments but I suppose by the time you get round to that you will know if your job is safe

I suggest you go ahead anyway.  If circumstances unexpectedly change you can deal with it then.
