NatWest FTB

Afternoon,

Just looking for some advice or such on an application with NatWest. We did it through a broker, but this is my situation and process so far.

Originally applied to Nationwide but was rejected for a large appetite to use Unarranged overdrafts, our broker did push back as never had a overdraft or gone into an unarranged one despite banking with Nationwide. But I did a AIP with NatWest and it came back with more than we wanted to borrow so I suggested is it worth while trying them to which  out broker agreed it be the best path. So the timeline went as follows with NatWest:

08/01/23 - Done AIP and passed the soft checks
11/01/23 - Application went in to NatWest
12/01/23 - NatWest Reviewed payslips for myself and my partner
13/01/23 - Valuation took place
16/01/23 - Valuation accepted and passed
17/01/23 - Reviewed bank statements and clarified a payslip for my partner. (Was just a misread on their side)

Since then it has been nothing but silence, they have not even done any Hard Checks yet and my broker has no updates. Is this normal as its got me concerned that its just silence on my brokers end and the online tracker side. I assume it would tell me if I would have been rejected on the online tracker. Probably being silly but I have both the solicitors and estate agent phoning me constantly to find out what's happening, but I have nothing to give them apart from I am waiting as well. So now concerned the seller will get fed up waiting and pull out.

So thought id ask if anyone else has had a similar experience of the application just going cold?

That sounds familiar lol. I hope you would have got your offer by now. We are going through same situation and trying really hard to be patient. We were rejected by Barclays at DIP stage and applied with NatWest through our broker. It’s been almost four weeks and seller is getting worried.

You should have had an offer or been declined in that time. Thats getting on for 2 months of nothing happening. I am not surprised people are chasing you.

Assuming your NatWest application was through the broker, I'd be putting pressure on them to chase this up. I received a full mortgage offer from NatWest within 24hrs of the valuer coming out (but we are talking a few years ago now, the whole housebuying process in the England does seem to have had a lot of treacle added to it in the last 5 years).
