Last sunday i cooked xmas dinner number one for my dad and step mum that turned out lovely. I put a xmas pud and a tesco choc pud (which came in a similar plastic pudding dish as the xmas pud) in my steamer.
Anyway, i couldn't get another choc pud the same from Tesco so i had to buy a Cadburys Choc pudding in a tin ready for xmas dinner number two on xmas day....It tells you to put it in a pan of boiling water for 35 mins...is this the same as putting in my steamer for 35 mins?...Do i have to take it out of the tin and put in a pudding dish or can i leave it in the tin if i use my steamer?
Thanks all

I don't know if it would be safe to cook a tin in the steamer - you have to be sure that there is enough water to make the tin float or there is a danger of it exploding.
It might work to take it out of the tin and steam it on a plate - but then wouldn't you be boiling water for the steamer anyway?0 -
Wouldn't you be okay if you pierced the tin in 2-3 places on top and steamed? Or cut the top off and put foil over the top relatively loosely or with a pleat in it like you do your turkey in the oven to make a tent. Not sure about the timings but my tatties take about as long in the steamer as they do on the hob and since you are only really heating it up rather than cooking I would think 30-35 mins would be fine.0

What about if i put the pudding in an old plastic pudding dish i have covered with foil and put in the steamer....does anyone know if that will work?0
