Thanks for the suggestions so far.  I have started to read the Tim Hale book, partly because it’s free on Prime Unlimited which I am currently subscribed to.  Seems pretty good so far but unless there’s a big plot twist coming, the main message is - keep charges very low and use index funds if you are doing your own investing.

I also quite liked the audiobook version of the Morgan Housel book - mentioned above by Anon.

Another vote here. Listened to it last year. Excellent book

Just to add to my original recommendation - Morgan Housel has a blog (https://collabfund.com/blog/authors/morgan/) which is excellent and has appeared on many podcasts discussing his book and its concept (my favourite is Tim Ferriss). Which are available for free on Youtube and other media outlets.

As general rule many of the authors discuss their books on podcasts for free so you can at least get a good indication of whether the book will interest you or not before you buy.

I'd also second the Meaningful money podcast which is excellent, plus Maven Money who has just released a "megasode"  compilation of his highlights. Good way to kill several hours.
Naval (Naval Ravikant) has released a couple of really good podcasts on happiness and becoming wealthy which I think are pretty essential listening but again not strictly about investing.

I'd recommend an audiobook of a book - The Simple Path to Wealth by JL Collins. The advice is very US biased but the principles are sound and, more importantly, it's easy and interesting to listen to.

To get a flavour of J L Collins, search online for his google talk on Youtube - of the same name as the book above.
