I got this air fryer, and I got a steak pie from M&S (no doubt it is pre-cooked)  it is a medium sized pie 500g instuctions say 180 C fan oven 35 mins  as you would expect.
But there is no air fryer times.

I was going to do it in the oven as suggested maybe a bit lower for longer.

But I know someone will complain I am not using the air fryer..

so what temp and roughly how long for in the air fryer please?

I have started it at 150 for 15 mins, see what that does.

I don't see why they are any quicker, because the temp inside is theoretically the same as in a normal fan oven.

When I was shown it it was put on with 3 small pies at 200 C and they were hot and burning in about 7 mins,  but I felt that the filling did not have time to heat up properly and was barely warm, before the outside was starting to burn.

150 for 15 was not long enough, the outside was hot but not the inside, I gave it another 5 mins and it was still the same, not wanting to burn the outside, we ate it as it was.

If you Google it says for most things reduce temperature by 20 or 30c and the time by 20%

There are hundreds of conversion charts online, just do a google

However the golden rule, is 20 degrees lower and 10 mins less.

BUT, in saying that, still some things cook quicker then others.

A chicken in my oven, start to finish is 90 mins - 50 mins in air fryer.

If your air fryer is the typical drawer or double drawer type then just think of it as a tiny oven. Doesn't need pre heating, when it has reached temp. its a tiny space compared to an oven so nothing is going to take long. I aim for 75% and often come in at 50% of normal cooking time

I cover the top of the pie with silver foil once it looks brown enough and then complete the cooking time .

I used to be on MSE but a few years ago lost my links (old person). and now I cannot find the recipe pages at all, I thought they were on Old Style Money Savings type pages. The home pages seem to have changed too.  Any help please.  Looking for Air Fryer recipes as well as SC ones. Living in old peoples flats now not only allowed to use electricity and have no use now for a big oven or hob,  just me. Thank you. xx
