Metropolitan Collection Services

Hi
I am looking for some advice if possible. I am wanting to get a mortgage within the next 6 months. My credit profile is good now, however, I am aware that the bank will want to see 3 months of my bank statements. On this they will see a regular payment to Metropolitan Collection Services for £5.00 a month
In 2008 I was in a bad situation and defaulted on 5 accounts. Four of these debts I have been able to deal with and have paid/settled. The last one, however, is proving difficult. I have no letters from Metropolitan and so can't get an updated balance or get a settlement figure. This was for an old HSBC overdraft.
Having done a search on the internet I can see that Metropolitan has been dissolved. I don't know where the debt now lives. Does anybody have any ideas on how I can find out where this debt is? As it is so old it no longer shows on my credit profile.
The thought of just stopping the payment fills me with dread in case they don't contact me and I get a CCJ, which would be really bad timing.
Any thoughts would be great. Thank you

Yes, I remember the days when banks used to hide behind made-up names, and I think MCS was the one HSBC used.
It was a long time ago
Have you tried contacting HSBC and see if they can find your account? I can't see that there will be much left for you to pay. You might even be in credit!
If you do have a balance left, and a sum available, offer to settle by full & final settlement.
As you don't want this to appear on your bank statement, just cancel the standing order.1 -
I have sent a Subject Access Request to HSBC today to see if they still have anything about me in their records. Because of the standing order I have a reference number which I am making an assumption might be the account number.1

Same with me! MCS changed hands a few times. Never get a statement but money goes out every month. However, I received a letter last year ( cant remember when)to say debt now with Hoist Finance.
This morning received a letter from Hoist asking me to change my S.O. as money not going direct to them! Odd, but, Hoist were acquired by Lowell end of October!2 -
I just feel this is going to be really difficult to resolve. I havent received a letter from any other companies though. I have been tempted to just stop the standing order and see what happens, but worried that they might try to take me to court0

If you don't want this on your bank statement I think you're going to have to cancel the SO0
