Fund raising and Sponsorship Ideas

My son is hoping to go on a month long trip overseas to live in a deprived community for a month and help the local people. The cost is to be fund raised and the trip organised by a social enterprise. I'm looking for some good ideas to raise the funds, if anyone has any, they would be gratefully received. In particular, I would like a big online idea which can be run, something like a daily quiz but I am finding it quite difficult to find a good site where this could be run. I had in mind a forum where I could post a question each day and people could take part and hopefully make a donation to the cause. The other idea was a sponsored walk, which I could set up locally but I thought it might be better to sign up to a bigger, more challenging event but most of these seem to be charity events and the company organising the overseas trip is not a charity.

Hi, Whilst I can't help with your specific questions, my daughter was expected to fundraise for a pageant she was in last year. No specific target to raise (though the more the better) and it could be quite tough going to do it. There's only so many people you can ask for sponsor money unless you have a very wide net of contacts willing. I'd also look at things would a local supermarket let him bag pack and then the shoppers donate if they wish in return. . This used to be quite lucrative, but I've no idea what rules are now in place since the pandemic. Does your son have a skill that he could utilise somehow?. Any jobs he could do for friends/family/neighbours etc? Is he old enough for a p-time job? Several of the pageant Queens sold keyrings and jewellery they made which fetched a small trickle in. Daughter sold her unwanted clothes, some online the others at a car boot, that you don't get a great deal of money for but she had plenty and she earnt over £200 that way.
Tbh I suspect though the organisation word it as 'it has to be fund raised' in reality it's paid for by bank or parents, Christmas/Birthday money, part time jobs or a combination of all. Anything in addition is helpful if you've fund raised for it, but I believe not many will achieve 100% of the cost that way.1 -
My Daughter has been fundraising for a similar trip later this year and she and her friends have raised money by:
Car washes
Cake sales
Making sweet cones and hot chocolate cones
Coffee mornings with tombola
Car boots
Table top sales.
Film evening at school.
Refreshment stand at school events.
She also puts aside 25% of her part time job and 100% of her earnings from working in the school canteen towards her trip.
They have all avoided sponsored events as they felt that in these times of economic difficulties people donating should be able to get something in return.Make £2023 in 2023 (#36) £3479.30/£2023
