Dropper for eye drops

I am looking for an easy to use eye dropper.  There was one in Boots Chemist called Auto dropper or Ezi drop  but out of stock in my area.

I am struggling to get my eye drops in (poor vision  without my glases on) and I am wasting the drops.

Can anyone recommend something reliable, and easy to use, as I'm to be on these eye drops for three months or longer.  Thanks

If you use Amazon order there and you will have it delivered tomorrow
  • As Mike says above, Ezi Droppper and similar products are easily available online , not just from Amazon but several few suppliers including RNIB. Just google and choose. You should have no problems. Hope your eye condition is not serious and that it's cleared up by your 3 month course of treatment.

Thanks very much everyone.  Amazon can't deliver this item to my local Amazon Pick up point there is a charge for having it delivered to my home address.

I seem to keep being pushed to Free Amazon Prime Delivery Trial and I don't want that.  It is  out of stock at all Boots Stores in the area.

I'm pleased to have ordered it from RNIB and the on line purchase process was easy.

Have you tried putting in the eye drops while lying flat on your bed? That way you can feel the edge of the dropper between your nose and eye, and if you gently move towards the eye you can put the drops in pretty easily and with much less scope for them to run anywhere but into you eye. You may find you can do this without actually touching your face/eye with the dropper after a bit of practice, so you don't need to clean the dropper after each use.

Warning note: worth having two bottles of drops on the go, one for each eye, so there is no possibility of spreading infection from one eye to the other if you develop any sort of infection during the treatment period.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!
  • Thanks very much, Marcon. That sounds like really good advice and is much appreciated.

The EziDrops eye dropper arrived irom RNIB (thanks Richard1212) in the post this afternoon.  I have washed it and will try it this evening.

It might seem silly but my inability to see well enough to get the drops in was really getting me down.  I'm glad of all the help, information and advice.

    It's a great Forum.

Hello, sorry to butt in but did you wash your new dropper in sterilised water? Or boiled and then cooled water? Just maintain the cleanliness. Sorry!   :)

  • Thanks, MalMonroe.  You are not butting in - every contribution helps.  I boiled water, let it cool and washed the dropper in it.  It is ready to use for the first time this evening.

The pain from the corneal abraisons (like being stabbed repeatedly in the eye  with a needle) and the awful inflammation were enough for me to make sure I followed the treatment instructions and cleansing routine, very carefully.

I have treatment for the ulcers in one eye and separate drops for both eyes as I have newly diagnosed dry eyes.  This seems to be what caused the corneal ulcers - I'm told is called marginal keratitis.  I had no warning - just like mild conjunctivitis  to begin with then I quickly knew it was more than that.

Thankfully I had great treatment and follow-up from the Optician and the emergency hospital Ophthalmic Clinic she  referred me to.

It doesn't seem silly at all. An apparently minor frustration to one person can cause a wholly disproportionate amount of distress to another, so if people here have been able to help, that's really good news.

Hope your eyes will soon be fully recovered.

  • All the best for eye recovery in full very soon, Green_garnet. My wife has been taking  3 eye drops per day for 20 years for glaucoma so we know how difficult it can be to get the drops in safely and properly. Our very best wishes to you.
