Good morning, thanks for starting Gers. It's absolutely bitter here, with a heavy frost covering what was left of yesterdays snow. Izzy, youll be frozen solid up there in the Dales.I've got an osteoporosis appointment so will have to go out this morning,it's a routine one and I'm not usually there long.Yesterday was ok, had hair done, tidied freezer, Dh has started doing the paintwork on the staircase, so the job is in hand.I've got my eye on a new pair of curtains for the landing window, I saw them the last time we went to Dun*lm. I used to make all my curtains, but these days I just tend to buy them.Thinking of our poorly people and our MIA's.Take care folks, keep warm and if you go out be careful on slippery pavements.11

I've had a quick trip across the hall and now back in bed. It's very cold outside, think a low minus figure. My electric blanket is on the blink so will need to be replaced, luckily I had an inkling about this happening so have already got a new one. *feeling slightly smug*
After I posted yesterday morning I stayed upstairs for ages, I was determined to empty the large suitcase which was being used as storage. Now it's empty and will be going to a CS on my next trip to Glasgow. I bought it specifically for the Oz holiday last year so has served its purpose well.I received a reply from a teacher at my old school about the 1960s magazines, he'd be delighted to have them as webpages are being designed for such historical items. Result! I packed them off immediately, weighed it, stuck on stamps and gave it to my postie. I also emailed across lots of staff photos as my late DM began her teacher training there.Later on I discovered the pleasures of Royal Mails 'click and collect' for parcels. So, a padded bag of unwanted little samples is now ready to hand cover today. All weighed and postage paid online, the postie will bring the label, an excellent innovation especially for us who live a rural life. 😀Today I intend to spend a bit longer in bed. No other plans so far.Izzy - that's good news about a new job in the offing. Splendid.Healing thoughts to our poorlies and missing. Happy Tuesday to all.10 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I spoke too soon about no snow yesterday. Mid morning down it came. It's now lying frozen solid and deadly! I am going to hurl some salt down the front steps when it's a bit lighter.
The DGDs are still in the land of nod but will be to rouse up shortly. Sausage sandwiches were requested for breakfast. They are no bother these days but it was a different story when they were younger and we had all 3 of them up to 3 nights a week. But I was a bit younger then!
As it's Tuesday all being well I shall be meeting my BFF for morning coffee then lunch. We are going to check when it gets light whether it's safe for us old dodderers to venture out! She too is up a hill, but on the other side of the valley.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies, recovering or MIA. Take care all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Morning All
Freezing this morning, there's a hard frost. The car is running so I'll defrost it in a minute, didn't realise how bad it was yesterday and it took ages - there was more ice on the inside of the windscreen than the outside!
Good result with the magazines Gers, great service from RM too.
Sorry you have snow TA, it seemed to miss us thankfully.
Good luck with the decorating Scarlet, must be the season for it with Nanny decorating too.
Work was a bit mad yesterday, hoping for a calmer day today. Washing up to date but must contact Dyson about my vacuum, it's stopped charging and is still under warranty.
Thinking of the poorlies and the missing, hope everything is ok. Take care. XX9 -
Morning everyone still got snow your right Scarlet it’s bitterly cold I hope the weather is right it’s supposed to be milder at the weekend off to one of my cleaning jobs in a minute at least it’s a warm house then back for a quick bowl of soup and then on to my job she was in yesterday but totally ignored everyone but she’s not in the rest of the week thankfully we have plenty of work in so the tumble dryers will be on to keep us warm . WW tonight I have been good except for a couple of squares of chocolate at the weekend let’s hope it hasn’t gone straight to my hips .stay safe and warm everyone. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing8

Morning all Brrrr its cold -4 here but no snow DS said there was black ice on the roads . I will be doing housework as usual and then making a chilli for dinner and a shepherds pie as i have a large pack of mince that needs using up I seem to be working my way through the big freezer but my shopping never seems any cheaper .

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x
A frosty start here. DH has driven to Birmingham, I'm WFH today and pup sitting. He was ill on the newly laid stair carpet last night. Hoping it's a one off.
I have a few errands to do today in between work. Attempt to claim from Evri for a lost Bay of E parcel. Have to call Office of the Public Guardian re: a query on Mum's POA. Have to package up a parcel to send to DDad in Cyprus and get the courier postage sorted. Donate blood this afternoon at a new venue as my closest venue is fully booked. It's all go.
Dinner tonight is a SW creamy mustard pork and greens recipe. Will serve with carrots and mashed potato. There's lo spag bol for my lunch today.
Hoping those with snow/icy conditions can go about there business safely. Take care out there folks. Hugs to all those in need and hoping our poorlies are doing okay - we miss your posts xx
Have a good day all,
Coxy

Morning everyone
Same as everyone else - absolutely freezing here. Wish I didn't have to go out but I've got an appointment for an MRI at North Tyneside, so bus into town, then train, then another bus - I've checked and everything seems to be running ok. I'm not looking forward to it as I've had one before and felt very claustrophobic.
Might have time for a quick look in a couple of shops before I get the train home again.
Izzy - that was good news about a job when your old one finishes.
Gers - pleased the teacher was happy to have your old magazines
Well I'd better get sorted
Take care on the ice x8 -
Disappointingly, I got up earlier than I intended, the lack of extra heat drove me out. At least now the bed is stripped, the broken blanket in the boot of the car and the new one waiting at the bottom of the stairs. It had been in the car so think it might need a little bit of less coldness before going on the bed.I've also emptied the dishwasher and brought more broken / unwanted stuff down to the bin. Whilst I was outside in the heavy frost I brought more logs in from the big barn.Scarlet - I hope that all goes well with your appointment.TA - I feel that we all have watched your DGDs grow up, it's good that they are less chaotic. Take great care if you do go out.Camelot - good luck with Dyson. I've just had a really good experience with GTech who have sent me out a replacement part FOC under warranty even though I'm sure that it was broken by either my cleaner or myself.Bella - I'm glad that you're staying in the house. Best place to be this weather.Coxy - poor pup, and poor you for coming down to a mess. Good move using a courier for the parcel, Royal Mail is, I think, still being held to ransom so no overseas mail going out. Even though I knew I forgot about it when sending a postcard to the family in Oz (via Touchnote) but it's not important so can wait in the pile.DP1 - such a shame that the Metro doesn't link to the hospital, I hope that you can keep warm during your travels.9

Morning all, thanks for the start Gers. No snow, but foggy & icy. Took a while to get into the vehicles, DS1 couldn't open his car door for ages. We always say it's 2deg lower where we are due to it being open land across the road
Still not as bad as some places though. Car due it's MOT today so DH will be back in a bit to swap from the van.
I'm going out for my lunch, weather permitting! A new place has opened & they're offering 50% off in January so one of my old neighbours thought we'd give it a go. Hopefully Ly1a won't be too bad as DH will be coming and going. Bella yes we've been putting the tv on for her, we have that classic FM pet calming programme recorded, or I find a prog like Father Brown which won't have too many loud noises on it !I've got some tattie hash from the freezer for later- hopefully I won't want too much to eat after my lunch out. Right I'm off to iron a top to go out in, and wash my hair!Hope you all have a good day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
