    Thanks brazilianwax,

Is that not a tad odd for you, I mean in the sense that you could end up working for a government with whose policies you totally disagree with?

That's the job. You're there to help deliver the policies, and TBH, the majority of CSs don't get that close to the policy decisions anyway.

I have persuaded Ministers that something wasn't a good idea, and steered them towards a better alternative. Depends on the job as to how much of that you need to do, and you'd need to show the skills to do it anyway.

Also, if a new Government did come in tomorrow, nothing would change. The current policies would still be implemented, and then over the next few years changes would slowly be made. It's not as if any of the policies are that radical and the main parties are both so similar there wouldn't be much difference anyway.

Think of it this way. The public vote in the party based on their policies (or at least, that's the idea). Civil servants work for the public, so those are the policies that get developed and implemented.

I am looking into getting into social care as an assistant. I have 2 1/2 years experience in finance but want to focus on my career and something I am passionate about.

I cant find anything for people who are unqualified, can anyone help / offer advice?

This site was really good until a month or so ago, then it had a makeover and doesn't seem quite as good, but I haven't used it a lot recently.

I was in a similar situation to yourself - recent grad looking for public sector work. I found a lot of jobs I applied for and alas got rejected for a lot of them, but did get an interview and offer of one, but turned it down in the end. I just got a job offer today outside the sector so won't be checking the site, but last time I looked there were several grad jobs. Good luck!
