Morning all - slow starts all round here. I'm back under my duvet with my first coffee of the day. I have a wee pod machine on the upstairs hall window ledge so very handy.Yesterday the weather was much kinder than the past few days though there were occasional bouts of heavy rain in between bright skies. The living room light was on and off so often. I sorted out the deep window ledge in the utility room, again, and began to collect all the little sample beauty products from my travels last year which I'll never use. They'll be going to my closest friend once I've rounded them all up, I think that there's more in my large suitcase.During my search through drawers I came across three very old school magazines from the early '60s which must have been my brother's. The school has changed so much since then, the beautiful Sir Basil Spence building has long been replaced by a modern (soulless) structure. I've emailed the school to ask if they want the magazines, if not then they'll go in the recycling bag.I've climbed back on the 'eat much less' wagon since finishing off the Maltesers. 😀 I've not seen the boxes of them for years. Anyway, operation Seoul has started. 🤞
Hugs to our poorlies and our missing. Happy Monday to everyone.10 -
Morning everyone we have snow only a light covering but it’s here shouldn’t last long going for a coffee with my friend this morning I’m not at work until 12 and I haven’t seen her for a catch up since before Xmas I had a bit of good news yesterday the woman that owns a shop near me had heard about them putting the business up for sale and she just said don’t worry about it you can have a job with me it doesn’t matter when it happens I will always find a job for you just come in and tell me and I will start you straight away so that is a weight off my mind I will be working weekends but I’m not bothered it’s only for just over a year and they haven’t sold up yet so we will see what comes of it I might be there until the end yet . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing11

Morning all, Izzy I was expecting some snow, or even a hard frost but no. Good news about the potential new job, takes some worry out of the situation for you.Gers thanks for the start, it's good to have a target to work to, ie. my DNieces wedding last year certainly helped to focus my mind on losing weight
Good luck!
I think I might pop into town as DS has a day off. Ly1a in her old age seems to have a bit of separation anxiety, even if I go upstairs to iron or somethingso I'll take the opportunity while he can dog sit.
Leftover curry tonight so that's easy. Prob be picking DGS up from school later.Take care chums, hugs to the poorlies x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. Where is everyone this morning? Despite possibly getting snow this morning it hasn't arrived (yet!) thankfully but it feels bloomin' cold!. Yesterday was beautiful with sun and blue sky for a change.
Usual pottering day in store and some tv catching up to do, then I have guests. The 2 youngest DGD are here for tea and sleepover as DD is working a double shift today and won't be home until about 9.15 pm, probably shattered after a 7 am start! A long day for her. There will be a few gaps in the freezer by the time they leave for school in the morning, I don't know where they put it all.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies, recovering or missing. COXY eek I am still reeling over your gas bill!! Take care all and keep warm xx

Hello all, brrr it's still only 1 degree 🥶 but no snow yet. Yesterday the casserole turned out to be delicious if a bit hot as I must have put in too much chilli, but there's enough left over for tea tonight so no cooking. I did 2 loads of washing so that has to be sorted and put away. I had myself to a lovely bubble bath too as my shoulders were killing me, I'm using muscles that I didn't remember I had !
More decorating today and I'll be a domestic goddess (I wish) as the kitchen needs a clean and some hoovering doing, just to keep things ticking along.
I spent some time looking at hoovers on the web last night and so far I have narrowed it down to 2, a Shark one or a Vax. I haven't checked out any G-tech ones yet so that'll throw a spanner into my thinking I bet 🤨! Thank you to those who took the time to give your recommendations, it was much appreciated and at least I know I want a cordless one.
Izzy what a lovely person to offer you another job.
Take care and hugs to all. Have a good day whatever you are doing.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning all. I did not want to get up fall out of bed this morning. I did have vague ideas about doing something in the garage but it's cold and damp and i don't fancy it. The shelves I liberated will be going in there, OH thinks there'll be less room on them than the shelves I've got now, he's wrong and he's right but I do like him to think he has some say in what goes on so I'll agree with him...:) I did do a sort out yesterday, there are now gaps on the shelves where everything has been organised better. And there is room in the drawers in the freezer. I did throw out [=put in compost] one packet of pasta but not because it was OOD, but because it was that pasta that's going to break up when you cook it. I'll cook the skirt today for the pie. I have pleanty to keep me busy anyway, it's the start of a whole new spring clean..:)Izzy, that's lovely to hear, takes a weight off i bet. Nanny, you'll be looking like She-Hulk before long [ the new tv version , very pretty] but I would say see if anyone you know has those hoovers and gove them a whirl. Or see if Currys or something will let you play. TA, I do not envy your dd, that must be so exhausting no matter how old you are. Gers, I like your impromptu coffeesmade solution
Take care all, hope it stays warmer for you all...

Good afternoon, I'm very late today.
It's cold and we have a covering of snow, but we are not going anywhere.
Izzy, I'm glad to hear your good news about work.
TA you'll enjoy seeing your Dgds
Taff you're busy as usual!
I've just tidied the freezer, just starting to see gaps.
Dgd's birthday party at the weekend went very well, as I predicted, kids and dog in high spirits and everyone else talking their heads off! It was a great afternoon.
Thinking of our poorly and MIA's.
Take care folks.7 -
Hi all – late to the party today as I’m in the London office.
We had sleet this morning but miraculously the trains were running to time – it’s the small things…
Yesterday was a blur of activity – housework, sorting DS2’s gubbins to return to uni etc. DH dropped me off at Mum’s en route and I spent 1.5 hours trying to sort her laptop/email issues. She has 7 different email addresses as changes it each time she upgrades her equipment (PC, laptop, phone etc.) as doesn’t realise the email goes with you. She could really do with some IT for seniors lessons, but won’t spare the time to do it, preferring to go to knit and natter and put the world to rights. I had the POA back with a query – she was bemoaning how annoying it all is – yes, for me especially, as I’m trying to sort this whilst working full time and have so far spent nearly £100 of my own money on registering POA plus secure postage, only for it all to be sent back!!
Ended up eating kedgeree at 8pm last night as got home so late!
Dinner tonight is spag bol courtesy of DH but he will have to go purchase mushrooms as he used them for a cooked breakfast yesterday.
Yes, an eye-watering energy bill but we have a largish house and given two children keep coming back, we are stuck for another few years yet. Will have to save in other ways.
Great news about a potential new job @IzzyBee
Wow that sounds so tiring for your DD @TA
Now craving maltesers in a box @Gers!
Have a good day everyone and hugs to the poorlies,
Coxy
