Santander and Electoral Roll

I’m planning to put in a mortgage application with Santander soon. Unfortunately, I wasn’t registered on the electoral roll for my previous addresses. I have also just registered to vote for my current residence but the details will not show up on the electoral roll until 1st February.

How strict are Santander with electoral roll?

Wait until you are showing on the ER
  • So is there no chance of me applying until I need to show up on the ER?

Hopefully one of the brokers will be along soon as they will be more
    familiar with this situation.
Do you mean all your previous addresses or just the last one? What does your credit report show on address history?
  • I am a foreign national and didn’t recognise the significance of registering to vote, so I didn’t register to vote for all my previous addresses. However, I can show my utility bills.

I’ve already registered to vote for my current address, but details won’t show up on the roll until 1 Feb 2023 (and may take 2 weeks to show up on the credit report).

The ER is used to help identify you, without it you will almost definitely fail most electronic id verification processes.

You'll be showing on the ER in 4 weeks. It really is not worth having a failed application for the sake of a few weeks

There is only 1 high street lender i am aware of that makes being on the ER a requirement.   Santander is not that lender so there is nothing stopping you applying whenever you are ready

If electronic ID checks fail then they will ask for something else with your address on it, usually a bank statement
