If you're planning a trip abroad this year, check your passport's still valid – and, if it's out of date, renew it now – as application fees are due to rise by around 9% on 2 February 2023.

Awesome - having looked at this headline for a couple of days it suddenly registered that my youngest son's passport has expired, and as he is 17 if I get it renewed now it will be valid for ten years and cost a lot less than if I leave it until he wants to go abroad!0

Oh - I was wrong. They have changed the rules and he will have to get an adult passport after all. So maybe not so worthwhile as we have no plans to go abroad in the near future.0
