Hi all, new here, I could not think of anywhere else where people maybe able to answer my question.
I've been long term on incapacity benefit, atleast a few years, in July I decided I wanted to go back to work, so I went onto jobseekers.
I've found a new job which I start in January, my problem is I dont get paid till the 27th, and my travel expenses alone are going to be about 150 pounds.
Does anyone know if there is help available to people going back into employment? I cant be the 1st person who has found themselves in this situation.
Regards
Paul

You may be entitled to a job grant (£250 if you have kids, £100 if you haven't) and 4 week run on of housing and council tax benefit, if you've been in receipt of benefit for 26 weeks+. Also ask adviser at the jobcentre if you eligible for help through adviser discretion fund (ADF). This is for help with anything which will help you return to work i.e. work clothes, months travel pass etc. You may also be entitled to working tax credit, again ask the adviser at the jobcentre, they can do a calculation for you and if you have children may be able to fast track the application.
Congrats on the job:beer:0 -
