How to fill in a tax return form

My original question: What I would like to know is How do I do this. I would preferer to do this on paper. ALSO: Is there anyway I could download a form now to see what I would be up against?
Reply: Have you actually been asked to complete a Self Assessment return?
Reply: As D&C says, that deadline is for last tax year 2021/22 - and it is for electronic submission only.
Reply: In your case, it's your 2022/2023 tax return that would need to show the increased income. Can your pension providers not do this via your tax code? Secondly, if

I am not sure that there will be any examples of a completed tax return out there that would help you, as everyone's circumstances are different.

I already provide that for him but not sure he's reading the posts properly.Link to a tax return: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/self-assessment-tax-return-sa100
Now the OP has added complexity by saying he's a self employed writer. Any income from this would have to also be declared.
I agree with you, if by "sample" he means "example" tax return then that would be as useful as a chocolate fish (or was it fireguard?). The best he could do for now is download one via the link we provided and practise. It's only 12 weeks til all the numbers will be available for his 2022/23 return.
Note to OP, don't use this version for your submission as HMRC update the forms every year, check the link for the title SA100 tax return (2023) when it becomes available in early April.Signature on holiday for two weeks3 -
This is an open forum, nobody is obliged to answer any of your questions if they do not want to, so a bit more politeness would not go amiss.PaulDesmond said:My original question: What I would like to know is How do I do this. If you do not like the answers, given in good faith, you are free to go elsewhere and maybe pay someone to give you the answers you want.9 -
A perfectly valid question, as many in your situation have no need to complete a tax return, so the entire premise of your post may be moot.PaulDesmond said:My original question: What I would like to know is How do I do this. Your original post was in two separate sections, but you didn't seem to spot that the above answers related to the second one about the January 2023 deadline mentioned on TV, which you'd clearly misunderstood in various ways.PaulDesmond said:Reply: As D&C says, that deadline is for last tax year 2021/22 - and it is for electronic submission only.

This is information that would have been better in the first post.PaulDesmond said:As someone new to this, I would know exactly what you meant by SIPP! If anyone has a PDF copy of a tax return form could they send it yto me please. That is what I need. If I fave to fill in a paper one, for the year 2023-24 then I have until 31st October 2024 to fill this in. Is this correct.
Also if I buy something for busness purposes, I could claimm some tax releif on the purchase. Can this be done on lin? As a writer I would need a new computer.
The multiple pensions won't generate a tax return but being self employed will do. Business expenses can be offset against profits. There may be some depreciation to include as well as other allowances. Your accountant will be able to guide you.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). As regulars come across his posts and are responded to in this way, the amount of help that comes his way will diminish. After 17 years on the forum, I found a function that just came in useful

@PaulDesmond you are being incredibly rude to people who are trying to help you.
I am surprised that some of the knowledgeable posters on here have continued to reply to you."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."
