Milk of Magnesia Scarcity

I know it is not a food but I am just finding it impossible to source either in chemists or supermarkets, always "out of stock". It really helps my sensitive tummy and I have now run out of my existing stock. It is not even available on Amazon.
One bottle on eBay for sale at £20!
Can anyone advise a supplier? Or something similar? I prefer liquid to tablets like Rennie. Gaviscon is disgusting!

guessing as you mention gaviscon that you are using milk of magnesia for heartburn as opposed to its laxative uses. I would suggest talking to your gp if you are using it regularly as it’s not recommended for long term use. I have medication from my go for an acid problem. But to answer your question, my Nan swears by Rennie liquid but if you don’t like any of the Gaviscon flavours I guess you may not like rennie.thriftytracey said:I know it is not a food but I am just finding it impossible to source either in chemists or supermarkets, always "out of stock". I don't use it very often, mainly when indigestion keeps me awake - I think certain foods don't agree with me, or I have been a little bit greedy

The recall by the FDA is the US only.
MoM contains Magnesium Hydroxide which the Chemist Direct product doesn't. I will order a bottle though and try it out. I just like the MoM peppermint flavour and it gives instant relief.

'Check store stock' shows it as being in stock in some stores (I don't know how many).Stompa1 -

I would also suggest talking to your GP if its an ongoing issue, I was on some tablets a few years ago as I had regular issues with stomach acid.0

Totally agree. I had stomach acid problems some years ago and my GP prescribed Gaviscon. It worked supremely well. The strawberry flavoured tablets tasted ok. I was put on proton pump inhibitors to curb the production of stomach acid and I have a sliding hiatus hernia which is causing my problems. I have the occasional gastroscopy to find out how my inners are doing, not very pleasant but extremely important.jon81uk said:I would also suggest talking to your GP if its an ongoing issue, I was on some tablets a few years ago as I had regular issues with stomach acid.0 -
Update
We found a large chemist in a nearby town that had plenty of MoM stock. So it can't be that it has been withdrawn.
Sarah1972 - I received the medicine - it tastes like a close relation of Gaviscon!1 -
I've been searching the web for hours looking for MOM for a friend. Found some and ordered - just received an out of stock email.
Would you mind pm'ing me with the name of the chemist @thriftytracey?£216 saved 24 October 20140 -
Not sure how to do that. I can tell you the name of the chemist it is Evesham Pharmacy.youth_leader said:I've been searching the web for hours looking for MOM for a friend. Found some and ordered - just received an out of stock email.

Unfortunately they don't do online shopping, although it says it is "coming soon" on their website.0 -
Thank you very much, she has phoned and called in to every pharmacy/chemist in her area without any luck. I've managed to get her a bottle on ebay for a ridiculous price.£216 saved 24 October 20140
