Hi
Happy new year to all
I am new to this - and also bit of a technophobe so apologies if posting in the wrong place! I don't have any social media - will this hinder my chances of winning anything?
any tips on where to start - it all seems overwhelming
Was looking at the league table someone posted - can you really win that much stuff

Welcome and good luck. Probably best if you have a scan through the items at the New Compers post here: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4896515/new-compers-please-read-competition-board-useful-links which should help you get started. The Main Competition board is at https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/categories/competitions-time/p1
and yes, you can win quite a lot of prizes. However, it does depend on lots of luck and the more you enter the better your chances of winning at least something. You might win a prize the first competition you enter, but some folk enter more than 2000 competitions per month and still don't get lucky. Just persevere and have fun.0 -

To add, don't worry about not doing social media. The more comps you enter, the greater your chances of winning, but that doesn't mean you should enter the ones you don't want to. I would say, follow the above tips and any that others add, but basically, just jump in and wait until a comping system 'hits you'. Also, be patient. Don't expect to win too often, or too quickly - but, when you do win, it feels fabulous.
Good luck

Keep at it, the shotgun effect will eventually produce a result! (By that I mean that statistically you will win eventually, you do not need to go out and buy a shotgun....)2 -
I will keep going......I will win something before the year is out!
Does anyone ever do the surveys on shop receipts? Do you ever win on these?2 -

I do occasionally do paid surveys online though, there are some great sites, I tend to stick with one in particular you gain around 25-75p per survey and they can take 10-45 mins on average, but if I weren't going to do much in that time anyway it all adds up and is worth it to me. We all have our preferences, if you stream TV services, you can get paid a lot more by allowing some companies to see what you are viewing etc. I've never done this though.Thank you to everyone who posts competitions and good luck to everyone who enters.0 -

I understand the frustration if you don't win, but if you don't enjoy it, I wouldn't advise sticking with it, as it isn't guaranteed prizes/money. Someone could enter 100 competitions and win 20, someone else will win nothing from entering.
Social media does tend to host a lot more competitions but there are thousands of people that tend to enter them, so focusing on those that aren't on social media, isn't a bad thing. Sometimes there is too much choice if you are on them all. It is also full of scammers trying to convince people they have won.
I find being part of the yearly challenge so much fun and helps keep the excitement.
